Advisor Council and Member Conference of the Independent Bengali Literary Council-2026 Held

With the determination to advance literature, culture, and creative practices, the ‘Swadhin Bangla Sahitya Parishad’ held its Advisory Board and Members’ Conference-2026. The conference was organized in two sessions at the R.C. Majumdar Arts Auditorium of Dhaka University on Friday (15 May 2026) from 3 PM to 9 PM.

In the first session of the conference, the organization’s founder K.M. Safar Ali presided, and the chief guest was Dr. Shahidul Azad, a professor at Dhaka University. The keynote speech was delivered by poet and researcher Dr. S.M. Shahnur. In addition, speeches were delivered by poet and organizer Faruq Muhammad Jahangir, Aruna Biswas, and the welcome address was given by the organization’s General Secretary, Hridoy Hasan. Poets, writers, journalists, and cultural personalities from various regions of the country were present at this session.

In the second session, the chief guest was the Bangla Academy Award-winning poet Aslam Sani. The keynote speaker was poet and distinguished actor ABM Sohel Rashid. Special speakers included poet and publisher Mosleh Uddin and poet and organizer Alamgir Jewel.

Special guests included lyricist Hasan Manju, writer, journalist, and organizer Md. Bellal Howlader, poet and fiction writer Zahirul Haque Bidyut, and Dr. Sharif Saki, among others. The session was presided over by the organization’s chief advisor, poet and organizer Munsi Kabir Hossain.

The first session of the program was hosted by Tasnova Tushin, and the second session was hosted by poet and recitation artist Jahanara Rekha.

At the conference, the speakers held important discussions on Bangla literature, culture, contemporary social realities, literary practices of the younger generation, and the role of literary organizations in the development of humanistic values. The speakers mentioned literature as a powerful medium for social change and called for the growth of creative and humanistic practices.

In the final phase of the program, as recognition of special contributions to literature and culture, eminent individuals were honored.
